*What is a "certified grief educator"?
A certified grief educator is committed to providing the highest level of grief support through education, experience, and insights into the often unacknowledged rocky terrain of grief.
Certified Grief Educators completed a certificate program designed by world-renowned grief expert, David Kessler. They bring his unique methodology, tools, and decades of experience to help people navigate the challenges of grief.
Jacksonville Center for Grief and Loss
At Jacksonville Center for Grief and Loss, you’ll be In the presence of someone patient, compassionate, and experienced in both surviving grief and supporting it. You’ll become educated about what is natural and normal to experience in grief and how you can move forward a step at a time. You’ll gain practical coping skills and be given tools for moving through your most difficult feelings including: intense longing, regret, anger/rage, traumatic images or memories, and “unfinished emotional business”. You won’t have to be selective with what you share or careful with how emotional or angry or overwhelmed you may be feeling. You’ll be encouraged to share, at your own pace, the details of your suffering that nobody else seems able to hear or knows how to expertly support. You’ll be heard and you’ll have a guide through your darkest hours.
A Place to "Be".
A Place to Heal.
A Place to Learn.
"In Grief the only way out of the pain is through the pain" - David Kessler
Our Mission
Support
Jacksonville Center for Grief and Loss provides support and education for grief and loss of ALL kinds. Every type of loss is valid. No type of loss is too small nor too “old” to grieve and to heal. Grief support is not traditional “therapy” because there is no dysfunction to diagnose and treat…only a natural experience to be explored with patience and compassion.
Education
You’ll learn about all of the normal ways that grief may be impacting you (many of which you may not realize are related to the grief response). You’ll learn practical strategies to comfort yourself and to protect your well-being, and how to negotiate with others in order to get more of what you need in your grief.
